Ordering and First Impressions

Ordering from Spice Garden was quick and easy, with a smooth collection process and friendly staff. We rang as soon as they opened and asked to collect it 45 minutes later. Everything was piping hot and well-packaged by the time we got home and started dishing it out to everyone.

What We Ordered

Everyone always orders way more than they need from an Indian takeaway, and with kids you never know what they will eat one day to the next. So we ordered a mix of mains, sides, and some cheeky onion bhajis.

The lamb biryani was fragrant and perfectly cooked, with tender, well-spiced lamb pieces. Everyone knows a biryani is good value as it also comes with basmati rice, and a vegetable curry. The chicken tikka masala was creamy, rich, and full of flavour - a classic for a reason. However it was definitely on the milder side. We also tried the chicken bhuna, which had tender chicken in a thick, spiced tomato sauce with a slightly drier consistency. We paired the tikka masala and the bhuna with keema rice, which was aromatic and filled with seasoned minced lamb for extra depth. For sides, we had sag paneer and sag aloo. The paneer was wonderful, while the potatoes did a good job of soaking up the garlicky spinach sauce. The onion bhajis are a firm favourite in our house. And these were crispy, golden, and packed with spice, making them the perfect accompaniment. Also we had a selection of naan's because there is always left over sauce begging to be mopped up. The plain, keema and garlic naans were all soft and fluffy.
